What to Expect

Welcome! You’ve taken a step in the right direction when you become a client at Bow Bottom Veterinary Hospital!

As a new client of our practice, you can expect our full attention to your pet’s needs.  Our service will be provided with courtesy and respect.

When you first arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we will direct you to one of our lounge areas while you fill out our new client forms. We will ask you a few general questions and for permission to obtain medical records from your previous practice. This is where we will also obtain your pet’s insurance policy information, in case it is required for the appointment. The more history and medical information we have, the easier it will be to make recommendations on your pet’s specific needs.

Our goal is to see all of our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times when the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible, and will contact you if we are expecting delays. We respect your time. Please let us know if there is a time constraint at the time of your appointment booking, as this will help us prioritise your pet’s needs so we may check you out of your appointment with no rush.

You will normally see a Veterinary Office Assistant or an Animal Health Technologist first who will take a history, and gather some data for the doctor. It is recommended to bring in your pet’s previous vaccine history, a list of food, treats and current medications that your pet is on.  A veterinarian will see you next, examine your pet, answer your questions and plan further diagnostics or treatment as necessary. We strongly encourage questions! If you forget to ask a question, be sure to let our staff know before leaving, or send us an email; we’ll make sure your questions get answered! You will usually see the Technician again to wrap things up, and she will provide you with further educational information, go over any recommended treatments or diagnostics from the doctor, and answer routine wellness and care questions for you.  Our Veterinary Office Assistants will handle billing and schedule any needed follow up in the examination room, or at the reception desk.

We are excited to meet you and your furry companions!
